Norma B. Duerksen
Norma became our pastor January 1 of 2015.
She came to us after pastoring for 20 years in Ohio. She was an associate and later lead pastor of Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Smithville, Ohio. Later she became the only pastor for Summit Mennonite Church in Barberton, Ohio. She comes with experience in large rural congregations as well as small urban churches.
She graduated with an MDiv from Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary in Elkhart, IN
She loves to study and preach the Word of God. She cares deeply for each church member and visits them in their homes, hospitals, and care centers.
Beyond the church her involvements include being secretary for the Hillsboro Ministerial Association, Laison to Salvation Army in Marion County, and being Chair of the Bethel College Women's Assoc. She is also an ally for a person in poverty in the Circles of Marion County program.
She enjoys cardmaking, cross-stitching, knitting, crocheting, quilting.
Gardening keeps her busy in the summer. She is competitive in table games and an avid sports fan.
Her husband Phil is a science teacher in the Centre jr high and high school near Lost Springs. They have no children of their own; so they enjoy everyone else's.
